How the mania started

Hi from horse country, where we moved to in '08 from Mickey Mouseland. We initially started blogging during the Great Wait to adopt our daughter from Jiangxi, China. During that time we had the blessed unexpected adoption of our then 5-year-old son from the U.S. (see our very zany timeline below). Oh yeah, and before the double adoption craziness we adopted a schnoodle. And then another, her sister. And last, but definitely not least, Steve's two grown children, both married! Oh wait! There's more! Since moving to Kentucky, we've rescued two horses. "Doyle Mania" it is!

6/28/05 Application approved to adopt from China
7/05 Drs visits galore prove we are 'fit' to be parents
7/21/05 FBI fingerprinting No. 1
8/27/05 Home study done (later updated thanks to delays)
9/10/05 Steve's fingerprints rejected ("too smooth"?!)
11/18/05 Dossier (paperwork) mailed to China!
11/20/05 Painted Savannah's nursery (but she'll never even sleep here!)
July 2006 Receive email. 5-yr-old boy needs new parents (short version!)
July/Aug 2006 Endless conversations w/boy's biological parents & grandparents
7/30-7/31/06 - Stomachs in knots, we fly to Mpls & meet the handsome little boy, Adam, soon to be our son
8/5/06 China paperwork enters the 'Matching Room'
9/5/06 New domestic home study done (for Adam), Savannah's things put in storage and nursery transformed into "Nemo" room-despite not knowing for sure if Adam would come to live w/us. Two rollercoaster months.
10/6/06 Fly to Mpls to get Adam - Adam's "Gotcha Day"
10/7/06 Fly home to Fla w/Adam. He beams at his Nemo Room. Next day is celebrated at the ocean. An adventure begins.
1/13/06 Mysterious "brown envelope" arrives (cool Chinese documents)
1/07 House on the market - need another bedroom!
5/22/07 Happy Adoption Day - Adam adopted before the judge - it's official!
6/07 House sold, upsized house purchased
11/7/07 We "meet" 9-month-old Savannah-via photos on the computer
11/14/07 Learn we'll be in China over both Christmas & New Years!
12/19/07 Steve, Steph & Adam arrive in Beijing
12/22/07 Savannah's big brother's wish comes true - he walks on the Great Wall
12/23/07 Savannah's "Gotcha Day" in Nanchang - our Christmas Eve Eve baby
12/26/07 We hire driver to take us to Gao'An City so we can see Savannah's town and "finding spot," the place where she was found the day she was born. Lots of hugs and tears.
1/4/08 Home in Fla 1 a.m. Savannah meets the schnoodles and both kids greeted by Santa's goodies
PHEW!!!
2008 Major job change, three 1st days of school for Adam, Steph's grandmother passes, job losses for too many friends, and a Fla-to-Ky move!
